The SMMA staff sets the bar for every other dispensary in Seattle. They are exceptionally informative and demonstrate a personal interest in seeing the right strains are paired with the symptoms you're seeking to alleviate. Their selection of product is also extremely broad. From high-gloss sativas to the deep purple indicas and a broad range of edibles to round out the selection, they've got you covered. Truly exceptional folks with an exceptional clinic that stands out for its clean and business-like atmosphere. Highly recommend, 5 stars. Rango
I feel like I have finally found my place after going to one sketchy dispensary after another. I have been to places that look nice but have overpriced low quality meds and very uncomfortable places with 1 or 2 great strains. This place really has it all, friendly/professional atmosphere and at least 20 strains of high quality meds. Fantastic hash selection. I feel like I could close my eyes and pick a strain and it would be great. I trust these guys. Lauren D
There is no equal in Washington state for S.M.M.A. The staff is knowledgeable and have a special way with patients. The quality and consistency of their flowers is unmatched. Two separate bud rooms mean that there is never a wait. After my first few experiences I decided not to go anywhere else. Micah G
I wish I had found this place earlier. I have been battling pancreatic cancer and have been a medical cannabis user for the last 1 1/2 years.
I have been to several different sketchy places that have been down dark ally-ways and basements. After seeing SMMA's owner on a KBTC Medical Marijuana Special I decided to try them out. They are in a house but it is a very professional, safe atmosphere and everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. The verification process is a pain, but quick. I was very impressed with there huge selection of about 20-30 different QUALITY strains that I have not seen anywhere else. Great donations too, I would have not minded paying more for this kind of quality. Great specials too. Hands down, best MMJ in the state. John C
Wow! First off, let me just say I've made the rounds in Seattle, trying to find that "perfect" collective. My search ended the day I walked into SMMA. There are so many positives about this facility, I don't know where to begin.
Okay, I do know where to begin. The meds are stunning and plentiful. They always have a wide array of dried meds of all varieties with no strain over $12 a gram which is pretty impressive considering the high quality medicine they offer. In addition there is a vast array of concentrates of both the solid and liquid variety.
And the clones! As you are checked in, you are invited to inspect the GORGEOUS and HEALTHY clones as you make your way to the medicine rooms. The clones I've seen there rival some of the nicest I have seen ever. the last time I was there they had some vibrant and lush Blue Cheese clones.
So, next let's talk about the service. What a charming, compassionate and friendly crew they have down there. Sam is one of the medicine room attendants that always makes me smile. I get better service here than at a lot of restaurants I eat at!
The parking and the facility are top notch, and they just opened a second medicine room to keep up with demand and keep things moving.
I know the industry itself is still finding it's wings, but SMMA should be the template for efficient, compliant, and comfortable collectives. JB
This place is Awesome. The staff are very nice and friendly and I mean very nice and friendly. They are very very helpful in guiding me to which medicine is best for my conditions and symptoms. Their knowledge about the products is beyond belief, they carry all kinds of medicinal products and also have the absolute best prices on hardware and supplies for the medicinal user. When I go there I just tell them what my symtoms are and and what my desired outcome would be and they always offer a couple of choices of products that will handle my needs. To me this is great, I don't need to have a PhD in medicinal uses nor do I really need to know much at all, the staff here will very nicely and patiently explain things to me and their reccomendations of products to help with my symtoms have always been right on! They have a huge selection of all types of products in fact the most that I have seen anywhere. I suggest you give them a try it would not hurt to try this place as the staff and the products are great!! Lacy S
After moving back to Seattle from Southern California in 2010 I visited a few Seattle collectives and was a little disappointed at what I found UNTIL visiting SMMA. At SMMA I found a large selection of quality medication including edibles, tinctures, concentrates and the best top shelf meds around. Friendly, professional and knowledgeable staff willing to work with me to find the medication that works best for my condition. Keep up the great work SMMA. Phil S
I can't see why anyone would not like this place. I think there are several reasons this place is successful. They will never bother with anything that is less than "A" quality (which is what EVERYONE should be doing). Everyone who works there is very friendly and you can tell everyone wants to help you (not just take your money). I also really appreciate how they always try to have activities for other patients to get together. E.M.
I went to SMMA in may of 2012 and it was so awesome and jay and crew treated me great . The medicine was exactly what I needed for my back pain. Querkle and Dutch Treat very tasty. Sherry K
I've been going here for years and the new(ish) location is much nicer although a little farther away from my home neighborhood. They've always been polite over the years, which sounds silly, but that carries a lot of weight in my book to smile and say hello. The meds are almost always top notch as well - very rarely have I been let down! JandH H
I have found my dispensary. Upon walking in I was greeted by a very nice receptionist and comfy leather couches. The front lobby even had the doctor's office smell to it. When you walk past the double doors that smell changes real fast to a even more pleasant aroma. My favorite part of the experience was that they had individual rooms for privacy with your own consultant. I didn't feel rushed at all and even learned something new. The medicine was outstanding and they had so many choices. I ended up spending way more than I thought I was going to because of all the great meds.
Word of caution: They only accept cash and they charge a retail sales tax. Although they do have an ATM I prefer to avoid those charges.
Overall a wonderful place that I plan on frequenting for the years to come. Donnie D
I've been going to SMMA since they were in Interbay. I always love stopping by. The service is always friendly and after a few visits you feel like part of the family.
The meds are also some of the best, consistently, I've found in town. Always a competitive price and and one of the best concentrate selections I've seen.
Can't say enough about this place that hasn't already been said.
Well I'll repeat anyway.
Quietly one of the best gardens for connoisseurs in Seattle. Skyler F
Over the years I have been to a number of dispensaries. SMMA has by far the widest selection of quality dried flowers. All the flowers from SMMA have a strong, distinctive, non-chemically odor, the result of organic grow practices and terpene maximization, so each strains unique traits and healing potential really shine through. SMMA also has a wide variety of quality concentrates, including the often difficult to find CO2 oils. SMMA does not have as wide a selection of topical creams and non-sugar based medibles as some other the other dispensaries specializing in this form of medicine, but what they do have is of the highest quality and reasonably priced.
The staff has an unprecedented commitment to professionalism. They know their cannabis. So even if you don't know what you are looking for, only what ailments you are trying to alleviate, you will walk away with the strains that are right for you.
If you are looking for bargains and bulk specials go elsewhere. If you are looking for quality dried flowers, safe concentrates, and a knowledgeable staff committed to meeting the medical needs of members, then SMMA is the dispensary you are looking for. Jessica L
Best medical place around. Not for the party crowd, they are clean and professional. Their staff is kind and very knowledgable. I've been going here for a few years. There are now many other storefronts closer to my home but I keep coming back to SMMA. Lulu G
I have been to a few other collectives in the area and SMMA is definitely the place to be. Unmatched customer service, full tour on your first visit along with an extremely friendly staff all around. The medicine is top notch, a true connoisseurs collective. Any effect you are looking for just let them know and they will find the best medicine for you. Will most definitely be coming back. Kyle S
This is my second experience with a cannabis collective, but they really pleased! Location is easy off the street, well marked as "SMMA" which is subtle enough.
Can't beat patient parking. They seemed to have a secure environment with plenty of cameras and a business license in the doorway. Staff is very helpful and knows the medicine they offer is high quality. Clones are available as well as edibles including a free bar of chocolate (your choice of treat) as a new patient. I got a variety of medicine as they have a large selection for sure! Best part was that the exiting doorway was right to the patient parking lot. I'm definitely coming back.
HINT: Take enough cash for sales tax
The feeling I always get when I buy from a "legitimate pharmacy" like Rite-aid is that I'm about to get ripped off. I didn't feel that way in this location which is a big refreshing change! They will be taking debit in the future, I was told. Christopher C
This is one of the quietly one of the best collective gardens in Seattle. It is a place for the connoisseurs. They give you your space while selecting your medicine with some of the best of the best medicines with great dried flowers. They have private rooms and a great selection of medibles and other treats that work. Not like some other places medibles that are not really medicine but empty calories. I have been to a few places throughout Seattle and Tacoma and often will make that drive because it is always worth the trip. The budtenders are definitely some of the best in the biz and I would have to say that Jay is my FAVORITE budtender in Washington (And I know a few). The Cannabis Cup should definitely consider that a category for recognition and give an award but he is a winner in my book. They go above and beyond to satisfy their clients and members and they are an asset to Fremont community. Great Staff, Clean open space and friendly environment. See for yourself. Robert M
SMMA dispensary was a great experience, friendly staff, great medicine, and an overall welcoming atmosphere. Waiting room was clean and receptionist was kind. Will definitely be coming back. Taylor Y
This dispensary creates a very welcoming friendly environment for all patients wether they have been there before or not. I went in today for the first time and it was professionally conducted and they even gave me a tour of the whole facility. They have a wide variety of flowers and concentrates to choose from so you can't go wrong. Just explain the type of effect you are looking for and they will help pick out the perfect bud for you. This place is awesome! Charles B
They have a huge variety of organic high quality medicine. Great consistently potent edibles and a very friendly informative staff. Their verification process is well worth it. Best place in the area hands down. James T
I have been coming here for over 2 years now and I wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff is very friendly and are truly there for the patient. I have GI issues as well as joint pain and I have not been steered wrong yet. Whether it is chronic or a flare up SMMA has the right high grade organic medication for you. It is so nice to be treated like a person and not a number. Thank you SMMA! Sincerely, Erica V.
As a patient of SMMA for over a year now, I cannot begin to say enough great things about SMMA and its staff. As someone who has suffered from Crohn's Disease for many years and has tried everything under the sun, the only relief I have found is through medication at SMMA. I recently had a flare that resulted in a visit to the ER. After being loaded up on narcotics, I felt worse. I went straight to SMMA and Sam came to my rescue. He mentioned that he had a friend that suffered from Crohn's as well and recommended Kief to me. BEST THING EVER! My nausea instantly subsided and the chronic pain in my stomach is minimal. It also helped with my anxiety and headaches from the other medications. The best part about SMMA is the knowledge and compassion the staff has. Without those guys I would be lost.
SMMA, you guys are awesome and I will continue to recommend you!! Cheers, Stephanie K.
SMMA has got to be the friendliest, professional, and highest quality MMJ co-op in Seattle. I obtained my medical authorization about 6 months ago for help with carpal tunnel pain, and relief from high stress and anxiety. SMMA was the fourth place I went to, and I have not bothered going anywhere else. I have stopped by other places to check them out and see what they have to offer, and nothing else compares to what they have to offer. The SMMA staff have been nothing more than extremely helpful in helping me find the best meds for my situation. Look no further in looking for a place to call your home. If I may I would like to paint a picture of a typical visit. I will say though, that I am not an artist!
As I walk in through the front door I am most likely greeted by the glowing smile of Amber. She asks me how my day is going and makes some small chat as I sign in.( I would like to ad that there is no 1 inch thick bullet resistant glass between us) After I sign in, I will grab a glass of water out of their new water cooler that they got a couple months ago. Crisp cold water at the push of a button. That is beside the point. Water in hand, I hunker down on 1 of 2 couches they have in the waiting room, or maybe I go into the special little accessories shop that they have as well. If you are new to the scene or want some new glass or a volcano, they can help you out with that. Okay, now it my turn. Here comes Jay. Big ol' smile on his face, he comes out from the back, greets me, shakes my hand and says "lets take you back to get some quality meds." After making the short walk to the back through the double locked security doors, Jay tells me "first room on the right." It’s great, they have 2 rooms and it is one patient per room. Very personal and private. We chat about my day, his day, look at meds, talk about what’s new. It’s a lot of fun to look at MMJ when the person or people that you talk to are knowledgeable of the product that they have. It’s also great to look and smell the jars of medicine before making my selection. After I have been taken care of, Jay walks me to the back door shakes me hand and maybe get a little knuckle bump action if the mood is right. I told to "enjoy the rest of my day", and I do.
If you are looking for quality, that is all they offer. SMMA has the highest quality dry meds around, not to mention their selection is not too shabby either. If you prefer other methods, they have that too. They have tinctures, chocolates, 7 layer bars, cake pops (mmmmmm), coffee, cannatabs, sodas, butter, spaghetti sauce, and more. They also have a nice selection of oils as well. I obtained my medical authorization about 6 months ago for help with carpal tunnel pain, and relief from high stress and anxiety.
Thanks to everyone at the SMMA for everything you have done over the past 6 months. I consider you my family and hope that never changes. I LOVE YOU GUYS!! Seriously. Jason H
I suffer from a rare neurological disorder and have a lot of spasticity. There is no known cure and little as far as treatment. In order to find relief, my doctor mentioned that I may benefit from medical marijuana.
Not having a clue as to where to go for medical marijuana, I began searching for a co-op. What I found is that the procedure is similar to obtain medical marijuana, however there is quite a difference in co-op's. Standing well above the crowd is SMMA.
What is different is the friendliness, compassion, knowledge and environment. I talked to three or four different co-op's and found them to be rather unprofessional and upon visits, unclean and "ho-hum"about my needs. Not so with SMMA. The staff is courteous, professional and very knowledgeable. The selection of organic cannabis is AMAZING, including edibles, so finding the right cannabis strain and delivery method for your condition will be easily handled by anyone you encounter at SMMA. They took the time needed to educate me, no matter how many questions I asked. Their "system" from start to finish is much appreciated. By appointment only, ensures that you receive the time required to make informed decisions.
I would highly recommend you start at SMMA. I don't believe you will need to check elsewhere. Two thumbs up. As a parting statement, I would say SMMA is also very knowledgable about the current laws and are advocates of making sure you understand them as well. They volunteer on the behalf of those of us that can't travel to Olympia and are proactive on the issues surrounding medical marijuana. They care.
I have benefitted from the use of medical marijuana from a pain standpoint, but mainly as it relaxes my muscles so I am able to move more easily. Dave
I wanted to take this opportunity to express my thanks to the people at the Seattle Medical Marijuana Association (SMMA). Having you as my medical marijuana provider has made a huge difference in the quality of my life. From helping me with information about becoming a patient, to assisting me in choosing the right medication for my condition, to always offering a welcoming, friendly, safe and professional atmosphere when I visit, you have helped me to be healthier in mind, body, and spirit.
Without pain I am a better person - less stressed, kinder, more understanding, more motivated, and more productive. So, thank you for helping me get to where I need to be without having to deal with the former downsides to marijuana use, the unsavory situations, and the less than ideal strain quality and variety. Simply put, my life is better with SMMA.
Thanks again for all your help! Joel
I initially received my medical authorization back in February 2011 for muscle cramping and tightness. So my first time ever going into a co-op was at SMMA. Being my first time, they were extremely helpful and patient, and made sure that we found the most appropriate medicine to combat my ailment. Since my first time to Seattle Medical, I've gone to other co-ops around the area and time after time, they just don't compare to SMMA. Some lacked in the quality of their medicine, while others failed to create an environment that focuses on the patient and their reasons for being there in the first place. Having a consistent diversity of high quality medibles, and edibles, truly sets SMMA apart from any other co-op in the area. Their friendly and helpful staff, also does a great job creating a comfortable environment for their patients, and they don't make you feel in any way ill-informed about your medicinal choices and options. Eric
I was involved in a freak accident as a result of Cervical Stenosis and Central Cord Syndrome; I was paralyzed from the neck down. After a masterful surgery (cervical laminoplasty) I was able to wiggle my toes and smile. I was released from the hospital with thirteen different medications and told to begin physical therapy. My husband administered the medications as per the directions, I was in no pain but the side-effects were debilitating. I was in a drug induced state of incoherent semi reality. I couldn’t fathom the thought of six more months of this medication. My husband and I were directed by the “Pain Team” during my first follow up visit, to pursue all means of relief. We asked specifically about Medical MJ and again, we were advised to “pursue all means” to relieve the pain and minimize the side-effects.
My first visit to the Seattle Medical Marijuana Association office I was nauseous, shaking form the muscle spasms and in pain. The SMMA Staff immediately recognized my discomfort and began to administer a tincture they provide and gave me a piece of zucchini bread. The SMMA Staff were professional and compassionate. As we began to discuss the different options and methods of relief, my nausea was gone. I was so surprised at the speed of relief from the tincture, as barely ten minutes had passed. After nearly an hour consultation with the SMMA Staff, I was not shaking from the muscle spasms and my level of pain was negligible. I was fully coherent and felt like my old self. All THREE…Nausea, muscle spasms and pain had been treated with ONE medication!!!
I am so grateful for the option to choose Medical MJ and grateful to all the pioneers the field of Medical MJ who shed accurate light on the matter. I am no longer required to suffer from the debilitating side-effects associated with long term use of pharmaceuticals. I am convinced of the efficacy of Medical MJ and will not be denied its benefits.
Respectfully Submitted, Evamarie , SHP
I am a breast cancer patient currently in chemotherapy. When I came home after surgery my doctor sent along lots of pills to deal with the pain. However, I have never tolerated narcotics very well. So I was forced to choose between the pain and the side effects of the narcotics. I was so miserable. After a few days a friend brought me some marijuana to try. I was amazed at the immediate difference it made. Marijuana allowed me to decrease my narcotic dosage by 50% and still be comfortable.
When I started chemotherapy my oncologist gave me quite a few different anti-nausea pills but none were very effective. They even added an anti-nausea component to my chemo infusions that works well but only for a few days. I had to find something that would control the nausea so that I could eat. And the anxiety from the stress of it all was overwhelming. Again, Medical Marijuana worked wonders for the nausea and the anxiety.
When I first visited the Seattle Medical Marijuana Association I kept an open mind, as I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. What I found was a very professional, knowledgeable and compassionate staff. They understand my disease and my treatment and are able to recommend the most effective medicines for my specific complaints. While chemotherapy can be fairly brutal Medical Marijuana at least makes it much more tolerable for me.
The staff at Seattle Medical Marijuana Association is wonderful and I’m amazed at their dedication to the Medical Marijuana cause. They keep up on all the latest news in medicine strains as well as the current Medical Marijuana state and local legal requirements/environment and will gladly answer any questions. They have really made a huge difference in my quality of life.
And make a note: the Medibles are incredible!
Cheers to Medical Marijuana, the Seattle Medical Marijuana Association and the great state of Washington!
I'm a new patient who just recently visited your office and was very pleased with the service as well as the medication I was given. I wrote a short testimonial you can use on your website if you like. Thank you with all my heart! J
I have suffered from chronic intractable migraine for most of my adult life. I have tried all kinds of medication to relieve the horrible pain and nausea associate with this condition. Over-the-counter pain killers provided limited relief; if I was able to keep them down, but I had to take so many to be effective that it always resulted in a hangover headache, leading to an endless cycle of pain. Prescription painkillers, mainly opioids, provided more effective pain relief but added the risk of addiction to the problem of hangover headaches. Preventative medications left me permanently spacey and tired without significantly reduced the frequency and severity of migraine flair-ups. I have found some success with Imitrex, but the severe nausea and lag time (even in the injectable form), side-effects, cost, and limitation to fewer than 10 a month relegates it to a solution of last resort.
I have experienced success using marijuana to counteract the pain and nausea associated with my condition. However, in the past, the dangerous and illicit nature of the black market, as well as limitations on variety, quality and consistency, kept me from using marijuana as a regular resource in my anti-pain and nausea arsenal.
I now am fortunate enough to live in a State with laws allowing for the medicinal use of marijuana. I am also very fortunate that my prescribing physician was able to direct me to the Seattle Medical Marijuana Association.
I had no idea what to expect on my first visit, although I was already impressed by the fact that I would have an individual consultation. At my consultation I was asked about my condition, symptoms and what I was looking for in medication and, with this information, the staff at SMMA were able to provide with a number of strains--all of which are organically--catered to my needs.
The medicine provided to me by the Seattle Medical Marijuana Association is far more effective in treating pain and nausea than anything I was able to procure on my own. I now even have a strain that effectively treats up to moderate pain while allowing me to stay energetic and clear headed enough to work.
It has not even been a month since my first visit and my life has been changed for the better by relationship with the Seattle Medical Marijuana Association. I look forward to a much more pain free and functional future.
In Gratitude, Jessica
I never believed that medical marijuana would ever really work as medicine, but it does! I always thought it was an illegitimate form of medicine, and not even med
